Sad news at end of year: the passing of Steve Snow

Earlier this year the Community Networking family mourned the passing of Steve Cisler. 

Today we learned of the pasing of another of the founders of the AFCN ... Steve Snow passed away this weekend.  He will be greatly missed.

Here follows the obituary note.

Stephen Hopkins Snow, MA, PhD

 

Stephen Hopkins Snow, formerly of Charlotte, NC and St. Petersburg, Fl. died suddenly on December 27th in Asheville, NC where he maintained a clinical practice in counseling. He was the loving father of Stephanie Snow Tursi, Mary Snow and Timothy Snow of Charlotte, NC and Katie Snow-Rackley of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and is survived by grandchildren: Amanda, Ella, Jonah, Benjamin, Ruthie, Samuel and Thomas Tursi and Eli and Sylvia Rackley and siblings Roger Snow of Boston, Ma., Susan Snow-Burnett of Norfolk, Va., and Deb Snow of Santa Cruz, Ca. He will also be mourned by his former wife Patt Snow, friend Ed Fierstos and fiancée Cynthia Yancey.

Community Media Summit - 2007

Friday, June 15, 2007 was a very special day for community in Chicago and for Chicago community media. The Benton Foundation and the Community Media Workshop convened a Community Media Summit with the launch of the Benton Media Scan - What's Going on in Community Media a report by Fred Johnson of the University of Massachusetts, Boston with Karen Menichelli, Benton Foundation.

Julia Stasch, Chair of Mayor Daley's Advisory Council on Closing the Digital Divide released it's official report at the summit - the Chicago Report on Digital Excellence.
